My Bluebonnet Zepyr, aka Zephyr, is a beautiful black mare born on March 11, 2012. She matured to be around 14.3 hh. She is by SCRUTINIZER, winner of $343,197 and who was second in the All American Derby and the New Mexico high point three year-old with an SI of 113. He has sired earners of $ on the track including 14 AAA or AAA+ runners and earners of $30,000+ in barrel racing including NO MOJO and SCRUDAT.  She is out of SHAWNEIA, an own daughter of SHAWNE BUG, the #2 broodmare sire for the last decade in barrel racing with earners in excess of $437,800 and producers of more than $2.6 million. 

 

Zephyr has an incredibly friendly and willing disposition. She is also known for curiosity and tendency to get into any item left lying about. She once ran off with a man's hat and rakes. She is also incredibly smart and learned the barrel pattern in a matter of days. She was also riding bridleless as a three-year-old in 8 lessons. She is paid in full to Mare Power.

 

Zephyr has been patterned in both barrels and poles and was being prepared for the 2016 BFA Futurity when an injury halted her progress.  She is currently being treated for these health concerns. We anticipate her return to the barrel pen in 2018-2019. She will  eventually join our broodmare band.  ​
